Cawsand Ferry

The Cawsand Ferry runs daily during the seasonal months, between the Barbican Landing Stage and the beautiful beaches and Cornish villages of Cawsand and Kingsand on the Rame peninsula.

A wonderful boat trip in itself, this half hour ferry journey takes you back in time to the quaint fishing and smuggling villages of Cawsand and Kingsand, with secluded beaches, spectacular walks and magnificent scenery. You can be sure of a warm welcome in the many pubs, restaurants, shops and cafes.

Cawsand Ferry Information

The Cawsand Ferry service has been operating for more than one hundred years, connecting Plymouth to the beautiful beaches and villages of Cawsand and Kingsand.

Cawsand Beach is a pleasant east-facing shingle beach with rock pools and inlets for children to play in, all within a sheltered location. Cawsand proves to be a popular beach with families along with its neighbouring beach Kingsand.

Both villages have a selection of shops and places to eat including tradition pubs.

The twin villages of Cawsand and Kingsand are a pair of 17th Century fishing villages once renowned for their smuggling activities. The streets are narrow and twisting with pretty pastel-coloured houses.  The two villages are part of Mount Edgcumbe Country Park and are within the Rame Peninsula, which is an area of outstanding natural beauty.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Embarking & disembarking our Cawsand Ferry can be challenging at times, due to the use of a removable ramp/footway at Cawsand Beach.  Our crew have the right to refuse access if they feel this cannot be achieved ‘safely’.
  • Dogs are welcome on the beach except between 1 July – 31 August when a seasonal dog ban is in place between 10am and 6pm.

Dog Friendly – Dogs are allowed on all our Daytime Cruises & Ferries, but must remain on their leads at all times.
